R G Wilbrey Consultants Limited is the longest established, independent health and safety consultancy in the UK.

Our Founding

R G Wilbrey (Consultants) Limited was founded in 1964 by Roy Wilbrey based at his home in Wolverhampton. Roy’s background as a Chartered Engineer and Factory Inspector provided a deep understanding of the needs for employers to comply with the legislation surrounding Health and Safety in the workplace.

The business developed with the main purpose of giving effective support to employers.

Roy developed strong partnerships with many clients, many of which RGW are still supporting today. Our purpose-built headquarters in Wolverhampton provide the hub of the operations for our directly employed consultants/advisers.

Our Commitment

Successful contract delivery is the satisfactory completion of construction projects with year on year reduced accident rates. This can be achieved by the use of our extensive resources to ensure that the right information gets to the right people at the right time. Quality Assurance

R G Wilbrey Consultants Limited provides a rigorous quality assurance programme which is supported by ISO 9001. Our consultants are given an extensive induction into the company over the first month of their employment; this is a minimum time period and may be extended for some employees.

Our consultants then undergo regular reviews including desktop reviews of their work, accompanied visits/meetings, and unaccompanied appraisals (involving a senior member of staff assessing site conditions shortly after a consultants visit). We regularly hold CPD events, Training sessions and consultants’ meetings.

We are ISO 9001 accredited and always strive to improve our processes and
procedures to offer ever higher standards of service to our clients.

Innovation

RGW has extensive experience in the trial and review of many Modern Methods of Construction.

Over the last half-century, we have worked with many parties to set up and determine the effectiveness of these methods for not only cost and time efficiency but also the safety implications on systems of work.

Staff Training

We recognise that as a company, we are only as good as our staff and therefore place great importance on their training. All new appointees receive extensive instruction and training relevant to their job description and level of experience.
All our consultants are holders of or studying toward, NEBOSH qualifications, Diploma in Safety Management or NVQ Level 5 and are encouraged to join relevant professional bodies.

Participation in continuing professional development is required of all consultants through our in-house sessions held six times a year and attendance at events provided by professional bodies is encouraged.

Life Celebration

The Company celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2014. 

Roy Wilbrey founder of the Company passed away at the age of 86 in 2016 and Peter Wilbrey took over the role of Chairman.

Peter Wilbrey, the son of Roy took over as Managing Director and Roy took the position of Company Chairman.

Founding Transition

Kath Wilbrey (wife of Roy and Director of the Company) passed away. Kath was an integral part of the day-to-day running of the Company for many years.

HSE Accreditation & Training Centre

The Company gained HSE accreditation for first aid training and head office is extended to form a dedicated training centre officially opening in 1991.

Former H.M Inspector of Factories Roy Wilbrey founded R G Wilbrey (Consultants) Limited from the spare bedroom of his home in Wolverhampton.
